ANNOUNCEMENT FROM MR MIKE PROCIW, VP FINANCE AND CORPORATE SERVICES, CAMBRIDGE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, CAMBRIDGE, ONTARIO
Sleep Clinic opening at CMH
I am excited to announce that on July 2, 2012, a new 3-bed sleep assessment facility and ambulatory clinic will open in the 3A South Wing of Cambridge Memorial Hospital (CMH) to address a need and enhance the quality of care we offer to our community.
The lab will provide a number of services, including overnight sleep studies to evaluate sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, insomnias and other neurological disorders affecting sleep. At first, the sleep lab will be open for four (4) nights a week, 8:00 pm to 7:00 am and is expected to ramp up to 7 nights a week later in the year.
CMH is partnering with The Sleep Disorders Clinic Group (SDCG) to offer this service. SDCG currently operates two independent, accredited sleep clinics in Hamilton and St. Catharines. SDCG offers the latest and most innovative sleep service using the most up-to-date equipment. It will provide the clinical staffing, and interpretation will be done by highly trained sleep physicians, including Dr. Raymond Gottschalk. Dr. Gottschalk is a renowned physician of sleep medicine and has co-authored the last two editions (2005 and 2011) of the Guidelines for Sleep Medicine Clinics for the IHF program and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). He is also an assessor for the CPSO IHF sleep medicine clinics. Dr. Gottschalk is on staff as an assistant clinical professor at Hamilton Health Science Corporation.
More information will be shared with you closer to the opening. Please join me in welcoming the staff and physicians of The Sleep Disorders Clinic Group to our hospital.
