patient instructions

The Sleep Disorders Clinic is open at night from 7.45pm. We encourage patients to be at the clinic by 8pm in order to be able to go straight to the laboratory on the 3rd floor of the A wing. Late arrivals (after 8.30pm) will have to come into the hospital via the Emergency department as the other doors are locked at this time.

If you are planning to arrive later than 8pm you must inform reception at 905 529 2259 PRIOR to your sleep study so that we do not assume that you are a "no show". If you do not attend your appointment and have not given us 24 hours of notice, you will be billed $125 for missing your appointment. If we are unable to fill the bed, you may be required to cover the cost of the sleep study at current OHIP rates: $365. Please be polite and let us know if you are planning not to attend your study.

Parking is available in the patient parking lots for a fee of $12 charged by the hospital. While the hospital is under construction, parking is problematic. Currently the patient parking lot is accessed by using the entrance by Wing C (Ambulatory Care) at the new traffic light. Both lots are gated and can only be accessed from the entrance by Wing C. You will need to press a button to get a parking stub and lift the gate. This stub will be used to pay for the time spent in the parking lot. There are pay stations at 2 hospital exits where you can pay for parking prior to leaving in the morning. Credit cards may be used.

You may bring your own pillow but all beds have pillows available. You MUST bring your own pyjamas to the overnight appointment.

If you need to be accompanied to the overnight sleep study you must let our reception department know before your sleep study. We will need to make special arrangements for you. You may only be accompanied due to a medical need or if the patient is a child under 14 years of age.
