YOUR SLEEP STUDY APPOINTMENT
After we receive a referral from your doctor we will contact you with the appointment date and time. One week before the appointment you will be sent an email confirmation. At that time you will be asked to fill in an online questionnaire and to confirm the appointment. You will also be asked to fill in a sleep diary before coming to the overnight or day time appointment. If you wish to cancel or change the appointment follow the links on the email you are sent. If you do not confirm this appointment, IT WILL BE CANCELLED AND YOU WILL HAVE TO REBOOK. If you need to cancel the appointment, we require at least 24 hours notice. See our cancellation policy for charges related to cancelled or no-show appointments.
If you do not have access to email, you may request to have all documents sent to you by mail.
All patients may request to go on our CANCELLATION LIST. These spots are filled the day of, or the evening of, a sleep study. You can check off the box on the confirmation email to be added to the cancellation list or you can phone our office to be added.
If you want to cancel your sleep study after you have confirmed the appointment, please be aware that we require 24 hours notice to cancel any appointment. If you are sick and you phone by 4pm on the day of the study, the cancellation fee will be waived. You will be charged an administrative fee of $125 if you cancel within 24 hours of your study regardless of whether we are able to fill the bed or not. IF YOU NO-SHOW/ DO NOT TURN UP FOR A CONFIRMED STUDY, YOU WILL BE BILLED A CANCELLATION FEE OF $125, WITHOUT EXCEPTION. If you do not show up on the night of your sleep study, we reserve the right to charge you the full cost of the sleep study if we are not able to fill the bed (current OHIP fee is in the region of $370).
If you request a late arrival for the sleep study, we require a deposit of $125 to hold the spot. We accept MC, VISA, and debit. The deposit is fully refundable if you attend the overnight study that night.
If you have mobility or other issues and you require additional help during the overnight study (if you use a scooter, wheelchair, if you require help turning over in bed or going to the washroom, or if the patient is a child under the age of 16) you will need to be accompanied by a relative or competent helper. We will provide a bedroom for the accompanying person to sleep in if arranged in advance. They would be called during the night if help is needed. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU NOTIFY OUR OFFICE IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES THAT NEED ADDITIONAL ATTENTION. YOU MAY BE SENT HOME IF WE ARE NOT INFORMED PRIOR TO THE SLEEP STUDY IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO CARE FOR YOURSELF. Please note that we do not allow people to sleep over with you unless there is a medical necessity. There are hotels nearby and we can advise you on their locations if necessary.
BED BUG POLICY:
Effective immediately: for your own safety and to prevent an infestation of bedbugs in our sleep clinics, no pillows or pyjamas may be brought to the overnight appointment. You may only bring what you need to use for your overnight appointment such as toiletries, and a book or magazine. Please do not bring large bags or bulky items with you. Soft-soled shoes are acceptable, no fluffy slippers please. There will be no exeptions made to this policy. Bed bugs are endemic to certain regions of Canada. All our mattresses are protected with special covers that are impermeable to bed bugs. All linen is laundered daily to the highest standards. Help us to remain bedbug free.
