HOW TO GET REFERRED TO THE SLEEP DISORDERS CLINIC

If you think that you have a sleep disorder (a breathing disorder such as apnea or loud snoring, insomnia, sleep walking, daytime sleepiness or other problems related to sleep), you may ask your doctor to refer you to the Sleep Disorders Clinic. If your doctor suspects that you have a problem with sleep, he or she may refer you to the sleep clinic for an assessment. You may NOT refer yourself to a sleep laboratory in Ontario for a sleep study.

A sleep assessment usually involves an overnight sleep study followed by an assessment with a sleep physician.

Patients are assessed according to medical need. If you have many medical and sleep problems identified by your doctor, your sleep appointment will be within one week or sooner, but if your symptoms are relatively mild you may find yourself waiting longer for an appointment.
